Kay Strickland Nunnery, 47, passed away peacefully into the presence of her Lord and Savior on March 2, 2010. She was born on September 12, 1962 in Fayetteville, NC to her parents, her loving mother: Doris Sealey Strickland of Fuquay Varina and her father, the late Edgar Earl Strickland.
Kay attended UNC Chapel Hill and graduated from NC Wesleyan College. She was employed with the NC League of Municipalities as Director of Health Benefits Programs. She cherished the opportunity to be of service to others through her job.
She loved to visit Southport and the local beaches. Kay and her family enjoyed vacations to the beach and the mountains. She will always be remembered as a caring and loving person.
Lovingly remembered by her dear husband: Kevin Nunnery; her precious son, Andrew; loving sisters: Pamela S. Parrish and husband Michael, of Chalybeate Springs and Earlene S. Danko and husband Joseph, of Raleigh; dear aunt to: Brooke, Jenna, William and Carson Parrish; and niece to Morris and Debra Sealey of Fayetteville.
A graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday, March 5th, 2010 at Raleigh Memorial Park. A Celebration of Her Life will follow at 4:00 PM at Providence Baptist Church, 6339 Glenwood Avenue. Family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6-8 PM at Mitchell Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the NC Lung Cancer Partnership, in memory of Kay, at P.O. Box 14305 Research Triangle Park, NC 27709.
