Judy Bolash Nichols, 69, passed away on July 26, 2015, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Eccles, West Virginia on December 31, 1945, to Virginia Bolash and the late Frank Bolash. In addition to her mother, Judy is survived by her brother, Larry Joseph Bolash and his wife, Louise; nephews Eric Bolash and his wife, Robin, and Rodney Bolash; two great-nieces, and two great-nephews.
Judy grew up in Beckley, West Virginia and graduated with a degree in elementary education from Marshall University where she was a member of Tri Sigma Sorority. After graduation, Judy began her teaching career in Charlotte, North Carolina. She later moved to Raleigh, where she retired from teaching after 30 years. After her retirement, she continued private tutoring until her illness forced her to stop. Judy loved teaching and she loved her students. The feeling was reciprocal, as evidenced by the fact that many of her students remained in contact with her into their adulthood.
In addition to time spent with her family, Judy cherished the cards, phone calls, and visits from her many friends – neighbors, childhood acquaintances, friends from her teaching days and from “the pool.” Her hospice team filled a special place in her heart and she treasured her visits from each of them.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 1, 2015, at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 East Millbrook Road, Raleigh, NC 27609. Visitation will take place immediately following the ceremony.
Condolences may be sent to the family at www.BrownWynne.com
In lieu of flowers, Judy requested that donations be made to Transitions LifeCare (Hospice), 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607.
