Josh was born February 27, 1975 in Wilmington, NC, son of Curtis Claude Brewer, III and Betsy Bradford Brewer. In addition to his parents, Josh is survived by his children, Benjamin Hammond Brewer and Henry DeWitt Brewer; brother, Curtis Claude Brewer, IV and his wife, Barrett Simpson Brewer; grandmother, Gladys Brewer; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Josh graduated from Needham B. Broughton High School, attended Hampden-Sydney College and graduated from North Carolina State University (B.A. Economics, Magna Cum Laude). He also received an M.B.A. from East Carolina University. Josh was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon (SAE) fraternity at Hampden-Sydney, the Terpsichorean Club and the Halifax Hilton Hunt Club.
He was a founder and co-owner of Lane Bradford Building Company, where he helped lead the company’s residential and commercial construction projects. Josh was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and surfing. He loved to travel and enjoyed many amazing trips to Colorado, Wyoming and Costa Rica, living in Big Pine Key, Florida and countless days on the water at Atlantic Beach. Of the many blessings Josh enjoyed, what mattered most to him were his two boys, Ben and Henry.
Josh was a devoted Christian, a wonderful father, son, brother, and friend, and his presence will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
A service to celebrate Josh’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 5, 2014 at Christ Church in Raleigh. The family will receive friends following the service in the parish hall. There will be a private burial before the service.
