Joseph H. Ross

Joe graduated from Henderson High School and then NC State with a BA in Sociology. He proudly served his country in the United States Army for 3 years in Military Intelligence. Joe spent 27 years with the Raleigh Police Department from 1960 until 1988. While with the Raleigh Police Department he served as a Beat Officer, Crime Scene Investigator and finger print expert. He also worked for the Wake County Sheriff’s office and the State Capital Police.

Joe also owned and operated JH Ross and Advertisers, a specialty advertising company, from 1981 to present. He also engaged in movie work, as a stand in, extra work actor in Industrial films, training films and commercials.

Joe served in many organizations. He was a past Vice President of FOP and past member of Board of Directors at North Hills Country Club. Joe is a member and V.P. of TPA, Board of Directors of WCTPA, Past President of NCIAI, Past President of NCFA and active in GOP, as well as a former candidate for NC House 34 and Mayor of Raleigh.

Joe is survived by his loving wife, Judy Henry Ross; children, Katrina Ross West of Charlotte, NC, John H. Ross and wife Michelle of Charlotte, NC, Eliot Legates and wife Gracie of Naples, FL, Ashley Henry Goble and husband Keith of Cartersville, GA and Eric Henry and wife Holly of Calhoun, GA; grandchildren, Jeffrey Ross West, Hanna, Nathan, Lilly and Noah Ross, Ella, Presley and Kennedy Goble, Jordan, Kristen and Morgan Burke; great granddaughter, Makinleigh Spires and numerous other loving family members and friends.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Friday, September 20, 2013 at Mitchell Funeral Home, 7209 Glenwood Ave., Raleigh, NC 27612. A private committal service will be held Saturday.
