Joseph Francis Piccirillo, loving husband, father and grandfather, went peacefully home to his Fathers House on June 27, 2018 surrounded by family. Raised in Westport CT, he graduated from Staples High school, attended the UCONN and NYU Business School. An avid reader, golfer and accomplished photographer, he served his country in the US Army Office of Public Information during the Korean War. He worked for United Artists Motion Pictures Corp, and after retirement, for the Department of Veterans Affairs. He served his fellow man as a volunteer for Kairos Prison Ministry and Dorcas Ministries. Joseph also served his community in many civic organizations.
He was predeceased by his parents, his sister Shirley Mullane and his wife Grace Ann Youhass Piccirillo. He is survived by his wife of 40 years Michelle Bruno Piccirillo: children Jay F. Piccirillo (Lynn), Jo-Anne Piccirillo Smith (Francis), Steven D’Alessio (Suzanne), Christopher D’Alessio (Terry) and Beth D’Alessio and grandchildren Marilyn, Jeffrey and Gregory Piccirillo, Fiona Smith, Anthony, James (Liana), Emma, Lanie and Makenna D’Alessio.
The family is grateful to his doctors at the Durham VAMC, staff at Transitions Hospice, Genesis UMC and Dorcas Ministries for their love and support.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Dorcas Ministries, 187 High House Road, Cary, NC 27511.
