Joseph Eugene Patterson

Joe Patterson was born in Chatham County, NC on June 12, 1932. Joe is survived by his wife Treva Jean G. Patterson; two daughters, Kay Horsfall and Kim McKinney (Doug); son, Billy Patterson (Barbel); five grandchildren, Robert Payne (Leslie), Ashley Labarr (Arie), Daniel McKinney (Crystal), Michael McKinney (Chere), and Joshua Patterson; eight great grandchildren, Andrew, Landon, Kieran, Avelyn, Declan, Nova, Blakely, and Kinsely; and two brothers, Clyde Patterson (Dorothy) and Wrenn Patterson (Helen).

Joe is preceded in death by father, Joe Patterson; mother, Edna Patterson; sister, Patricia Patterson; and two brothers, Larry Patterson and Benton Patterson.

Joe was a devoted husband for 70 years, as well as a wonderful father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was also a devoted believer in Jesus Christ. He taught Sunday School at Millbrook Baptist Church for 30 years. At one time, Joe served as deacon, as well as volunteering on the Wednesday meal team for five years.

Joe’s work record spoke for itself. He worked for IBM for 28 years, and when he retired, he and Treva started their own business of chair caning, which they did together for 30 years.

Joe never met a stranger. With his quick wit and silly smiles, within a few minutes it was like you had been best friends for years. And if you ever needed any help, he was always there to lend a hand.

A funeral service for Joseph will be held Monday, November 27, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Millbrook Baptist Church, 1519 E Millbrook Rd, Raleigh, NC 27609.
