Darrell was born in Walstonburg, North Carolina on June 9, 1935. He graduated from Walstonburg HS and continued on to receive a Bachelor's degree in Agriculture from NC State University.
Darrell worked in marketing and sales in the agriculture industry for over 40 years with several different companies. He enjoyed saltwater fishing, gardening, traveling and attending church activities. He was also actively involved in Franklin Graham Ministries, Wake County Prison Ministries, Wolfpack Club, NC State Golden Grads Forever Club, NC State Alumni Association.
Darrell is survived by wife, Betty; son, Joey Dail (Suzanne); sister, Brenda Jean Pittman; stepson, Wesley Senn (Morrie); grandchildren, Cara Leigh Williams (Rusty), Chris Dail (Lauren),Lindsey Blankenhorn (Richard), Joseph Dail (Whitney), Jayna Senn, Van Senn, Stephanie Senn Heath; great grandchildren, Haleigh Collison, Addyson Collison, Trey Williams, Hunter Williams, Kinsley Dail, Asher Dail, Ada Blankenhorn, Dawes Blankenhorn, Beatrice Blankenhorn, Hamden Dail.
Darrell is preceded in death by his father, Franklin Elias Dail and his mother, Nancy Walston Dail and his brother Wayne Dail. He is also preceded in death by his first wife, Chloe Carey Dail and second wife, Gladys Waszak Dail, and his son, Franklin Carey Dail.
A visitation was held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at Mitchell Funeral Home at Raleigh Memorial Park. 7209 Glenwood Ave, Raleigh, NC 27612. The celebration of life began at 11:00 am with Pastor Steve Massey officiating. Burial immediately followed the service at Raleigh Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to the charity of your choice. The family of Joseph Darrell Dail, Sr. wishes to thank McCleod Seacoast Hospital staff.
