Joseph “Joe” Booth, Jr., a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at the age of 77. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 56 years, Patsy Booth, his son Joseph Booth, III and wife, Shelly Booth, his daughter, Jennifer Booth Lee, and grandchildren Brandon Burton and wife, Elizabeth, Rachel Lee, and Michael Booth. Joe was predeceased by his parents, Joseph Booth, Sr. and Pearl Booth, and his sister, Kay Booth Bedgood.
Joe lived a life marked by love, kindness, and dedication to those closest to him. After retiring in 2009 following a career in accounting and human resources, Joe found immense joy in spending more time with his wife, family and friends. Whether it was preparing meals for those he loved, embarking on unforgettable cruises with his wife, or simply enjoying the warmth of home, Joe enjoyed being with those closest to him. He also had a soft spot for his dog, Hope, who was always by his side and took comfort during times of quiet solitude with his koi fish in his backyard pond. A man of faith, Joe cherished his church family at Soapstone United Methodist Church, where he enjoyed the fellowship of friends and took great pleasure in many supper club meals filled with laughter and good company.
Joe’s memory will be cherished by all who knew him, and his legacy of love and devotion will live on through his family and the countless lives he touched. His presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit will remain in the hearts of those who loved him.
A celebration of Joe's life will be held on Thursday, October 10, 2024 at 2:00pm at Soapstone United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Raleigh Memorial Park. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service, beginning at 1:00pm.
