John was an avid golfer, had strong ties to Ebenezer Community Baptist Church, and enjoyed gardening.
John is survived by his daughters Susan Dean, and her husband Danny, Frances Ferrell, and Patricia Jenkins, and her husband Bert; grandchildren, Stephen, Jason, Joshua, and Logan; great granddaughter, Maegan; and his sister, Anne Price.
A visitation for John will be held on Friday, December 20th from 6:00 to 8:00pm at Mitchell Funeral Home, 7209 Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh, NC. A graveside service will take place on December 21st at 3pm at Brier Creek Memorial Gardens, 7600 ACC Blvd, Raleigh, NC.
