Born December 18, 1926 in NYC to Caroline and John McCarthy. Preceeded in death by father in 1930, mother in 1989, son John Jr. in 2004 and beloved husband John (Jack) in 2016. Survived by her daughter Gayle, husband David Snyder and granddaughter Vivian.
Joan worked for 20 years for the top Madison Avenue advertising agency Batten, Barton, Durstine & Osborn (BBDO). She was the Assistant Television Programming Account Executive on the Campbell Soup Account whose two most popular TV series were Lassie and The Donna Reed Show. Her favorite actor was Lassie who never asked for a wardrobe allowance, was never temperamental and did not have a stage mother. One of her prized possessions was the "Ode to Joan" written by the Hollywood BBDO office with whom she worked closely.
Her extra-curricular activities included Girl Scout leader, president of the Mattituck Auxiliary of Eastern Long Island Hospital, volunteer at Ocala, FL Regional Hospital and volunteer at the office of St Michael's Church in Cary, NC.
She was a devoted and much-loved wife and mother who will be sorely missed by friends and family.
