Jeffrey Michael Bell

At age eight, Jeff moved with his family to a suburb of Memphis, TN, where he graduated from Germantown High School. He then attended Princeton University where he made many lifelong friends and graduated in 2005. In 2007, he began his career at Autonomy as a software engineer and programmer in San Francisco. In 2017, Jeff continued his career at an exciting new tech company, Big Panda. At both Autonomy and Big Panda he developed deep friendships with his colleagues.

Jeff loved to travel with friends. One summer during college they backpacked through Europe. In the following years he and college friends had adventures in Thailand, riding elephants and learning to scuba dive, and they later went to Egypt and rode camels and visited the pyramids. On a trip with friends from San Francisco, the group backpacked up Machu Picchu and continued on to the Galapagos Islands.

From early childhood and throughout his life, Jeff was an avid video gamer. Often he would play a game online with his sister and dad — Jeff in San Francisco, Jennifer in North Carolina and Dad in South Carolina.

His many friends remember Jeff as a gentle, kind and generous man with a great sense of humor and always ready to have fun. During the final ten years of his life, Jeff had a constant companion in his beloved dog Fonzie. Fonzie will now spend his remaining years with Jeff’s parents in South Carolina.

Jeff is survived by his loving family — parents, John and Kathy, of Bluffton, South Carolina, and sister, Jennifer, of Raleigh, North Carolina.

A memorial service will occur Saturday, June 25, 2022 at 2:00 pm at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 300 Saint Mary's, Raleigh, NC 27605. A celebration of life will occur Saturday, June 25, 2022 at 3:30 pm at Highgarden (formerly Solas), 419 Glenwood Ave., Raleigh, NC 27603.
