Jefferson Benjamin Simmons of Raleigh died January 12, 2013 at the Hospice Home in High Point. Born May 11, 1958, he was the son of the late Newton L. Simmons Sr. and Evelyn Pope Simmons. Jefferson was a graduate of Needham B. Broughton High School, class of 1978. He enjoyed collecting books, coins and Batman Memorabilia.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Newton L. Simmons, Jr. in 2010.
Surviving are his sisters, Deborah Simmons Knowles and husband David, of McLeansville, NC and Martha Simmons Johnson and her husband Ernie of Charleston, SC, niece Tara Nicole Simmons of Fuquay-Varina, NC, and other cousins, nieces and nephews from Arkansas and Delaware.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, January 16th at 12 noon at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 300 St. Mary’s Street Raleigh. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will be held in Historic Oakwood Cemetery following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.
