Jeanne was born in Evanston, IL, on November 16, 1936. She graduated from Evanston High School, earning her Bachelor in Science from Cornell University, as well as a Masters Degree and PhD from the University of Michigan.
Jeanne is survived by her children, Richard Jay, and his wife, Stella, Glenn Jay, Elizabeth Kountis, and her husband, William; five grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 20 years Edward.
Jeanne was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She had a career in teaching and research. Jeanne was an avid birder, quilter, stained glass artist, dedicated Flautist, and was a member of the Dearborn Symphony Orchestra. Mom loved the outdoors, and was always up for a walk in the woods to enjoy the beauty of nature.
A Graveside Service will be held at 10:00am on Monday, July 22, 2024 at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens, 3712 Cheek Road, Durham, NC, 27615. A brunch will follow at Simply Crepes, 8470 Honeycutt Road, Raleigh, North Carolina 27615.
