Jean, known as Jean Hunter to her family and ‘Anything’ to her grandchildren, was the beloved owner of Creative Days Childcare Centers, co-owner of Simple Pleasures Market & Café, co-owner of Glenwood Grill and owner of NoFo in Raleigh, Wilmington and Charlotte.
She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Mary Hunter Martin (Beckie), Susan Covington (Tom), Ann Scott Mancuso (Will); grandchildren, Sam Bryant (Helen), Ben Jarrett, Hudson Jarrett, Anna Poe Covington, T Covington, Wood Mancuso (Mallorie), Ruffin Mancuso and Ann Wallis Mancuso; and great grandchildren, Mollie and Emmie Lynn Mancuso and a baby-girl, Bryant who will be born next week. Jean is also survived by her brother, Bill Poe (Judy), Karen Johnson, Leslie Alexander (Bob); and amazing nieces, nephews & cousins.
A graveside service will be held at Oakwood Cemetery on, Tuesday, October 17th at 2:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Jean’s memory to the SPCA of Wake County or Transitions LifeCare.
Jean’s creativity and passion for her businesses, dedication to her family, and love for her community will be deeply missed. Her light shone bright and her magical spirit will endure.
