Jason Molloy Geraghty, 43, died unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday, December 26, 2017. Jason had a great love of art, deep conversation, his Irish heritage, animals, children, and music. Jason took his love of music and his innate musical skill to create an inimitable, legendary DJ style that will not soon be forgotten. Known as “Merlin”, Jason mesmerized and transformed the Raleigh hip hop scene over the last 25 years. He was passionate about his craft and became one of the leading turntablists with his unique and creative talent. As a friend recently said “Merlin had the confidence to go toe to toe with the world's best turntablists and rock any kind of show.” He served as a teacher, mentor, and friend, to so many. His kindness and compassion left an indelible mark on everyone he touched.
Jason is predeceased by his grandparents, Thomas and Emily Geraghty and Luther and Allene Cox. He is survived by his wife, Melanie Hudak, his parents Karenn Cox and Kevin Geraghty, his stepmother Brenda Geraghty, step sisters, Rebecca Mitchell (Chris) and Beth Lilliston (Toby), his beloved pit bull, Dillon, and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
All are welcome to honor Jason at a Visitation and Remembrance Gathering on Tuesday, January 2nd from 6:00PM to 9:00PM at Brown Wynne Funeral Home, 300 St. Mary’s Street, Raleigh.
Also, all are invited to a service honoring Jason on Tuesday, January 2nd at 1:30PM at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 11401 Leesville Road, Raleigh, NC.

From a favorite poem of Jason’s written by his grandfather Luther Cox:
“When we’ve reached the end of the trail
what must be, will be,
But I hope your life was better
because you were on that trail with me.”
