Janet Gray Raab

She was born March 20, 1958 in Washington, DC. Janet is predeceased by her parents Ronald Atherton and June Gray McDuffie. Janet lived in Morehead City, NC where she attended West Carteret High School. Later, she moved to Raleigh, NC where she grew up and graduated from Sanderson High School. Following her graduation, Janet earned her Associates Degree from Peace College, Raleigh, NC.

Janet was a devoted mother, wife, and friend who enjoyed golfing, gardening, and was an avid artist. For many years, she performed with her husband in her daughter’s dance company playing the roles of Mrs. Darling of Peter Pan, and Mrs. Claus. She enjoyed spending time with her family and her beloved pets. She loved her visits to the NC coast and travels to Jamaica, the Bahamas and sightseeing in Washington, DC.

Janet is survived by her husband Carl A. Raab of Raleigh, NC; daughter Emily G. Small of Asheville, NC; stepdaughters, Sara E. Raab of Denver CO, Bridget E. Raab of Morrisville, NC; her Aunt, Jane McDuffie Allen of Raleigh; cousin, John Allen and his wife Shannon of Nazareth, PA; cousin, James Allen and his husband Tim Locklear of Wake Forest; cousin, Beth Bunce and husband John of Fayetteville, NC; Nancy Parker and husband Greg Mitchell of Hampstead, NC; and cousin, Ann Parker of Fayetteville, NC.

The family will honor her life in the Chapel of Mitchell Funeral Home on Saturday, December 3, at 2pm. A visitation and reception follow the service in the funeral home from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Janet's name may be directed to the SPCA of Wake County, by using the link below, under 'Donations'.
