James Darwin "D" McIntyre 74, of Raleigh NC passed away on June 29, 2021 at The Brian Center of Southpoint in Durham. D, who was born in Stoneville, NC to General Lee McIntyre and Vivian McIntyre is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Gary.
D is survived by his children, daughter Ivy McIntyre and son Nat McIntyre, both of Minneapolis MN and his partner for more than 30 years, Patsy Norman of Raleigh NC. He is also survived by his brother Ron and sister-in-law Stephanie of Simi Valley, CA; his brother John and sister-in-law Barbara of Durham, NC and his brother Gene and sister-in-law Sofia who reside in Brentwood, CA.
D was born and raised in Stoneville, NC. After High School he attended Mars Hill College, where he majored in business.
After college he worked for Philips Business Systems as a regional sales manager and in the late 70's Philips bought the MN Norelco dealership. D earned the position of Branch Manager and moved to Minnesota with his family. After a year, Philips sold their branches and D was given the opportunity to purchase and take over the dealership which became Precision Business Systems.
In 1990, D sold his MN dealership and returned to his home state of North Carolina and opened Precision Business Systems Charlotte. In the mid 2000's, D merged Precision Business Systems with Audio Data Systems and later sold his company to Business Systems Inc. of Florida. In 2010, D retired and moved to Raleigh NC to be with his partner Patsy Norman.
D loved to travel and vacation with Patsy and they took many trips together over the years. He also loved to fish and enjoyed traveling to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area in MN with his longtime friend Ron Esau. D was a lifetime football fan and grew up playing tackle in High School in Stoneville, NC.
D's friends and family knew him as a very charming and warm person, he had a great sense of humor, with a hidden sensitivity and kindness.
The family wishes to give our deepest thanks to Patsy for her tireless help during our father's illness. He loved you dearly. We also give thanks to Jen Capps for all of her help with D during this hard time. We know that he loved you and appreciated your help.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00pm on Monday, July 5, 2021 at Brown Wynne Funeral Home at 1701 E. Millbrook Rd. Raleigh, NC 27609
