He is survived by his devoted wife of 75 years, Vivian Madge Strother, his brother William (Billy) Lassister of Morehead City, N.C., and his children; daughters, Pamela E. Stockton, Julia Smith, and Susan Earp (Charles); and son, James Harold Lassiter Jr. (Jamie). He is also survived by 9 grandchildren whom he shared much love and affection; Lisa Stockton, Kim Massengale, Mrs. Shelley Aldridge (Earp), Mrs Angie Vandyke (Earp), Mrs. Wendy Cake, Mrs. Christina Fought and Mrs. Julia Gull (Smith), and Jennifer Lassiter, and grandson, Ryan James. He is also survived by 16 great-grandchildren.
Harold Lassiter was proud of his service in WWII as a Locomotive Diesel Mechanic in Company B, 740 Railway Operations Battalion, and was awarded 3 bronze medals for his participation in three major European battles. He was retired from Wake Memorial Hospital Center.
Graveside services will be held in Oakwood Cemetery, Raleigh, on Monday, January 7th, at 2pm.
