He is survived by parents, James and Emily Joyner, his beloved sister, Emily Clarke Joyner, and his grandparents, Walton and Lucy Joyner and Curtis Edmondson. He was pre-deceased by his maternal grandmother, Emily (“Mimi”) Havens Edmondson. Graves is also survived by four aunts, four uncles and eight first cousins of Raleigh and Tarboro.
Graves graduated from Broughton High School (‘14) where he helped found the short-lived but very memorable, “Off Road Club.” He also attended North Carolina State University.
Graves enjoyed his career at Autobell where he worked for over nine years. As part of the management team his co-workers regarded him as “a great leader and an incredible man.” He had a meaningful impact on many employees and customers throughout his career.
Graves had a huge heart. He treasured time with his family and friends, and he had a passion for the great outdoors. As a counselor at Camp Sea Gull he shared this passion with younger children. He was an accomplished sportsman who loved hunting, fishing, camping and spending time at “Contentnea,” a special farm in Wilson County. Graves was a man of strong opinions and delivered them with unique wit. He had a great ability to make people laugh. He was a precious member of our family, and he will be missed beyond measure.
There will be a visitation on Sunday, November 13 from 3:00-5:00 p.m. at 3727 Lassiter Mill Road, Raleigh. A service celebrating Graves’ life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 14, at White Memorial Presbyterian Church.
In lieu of flowers please consider honoring Graves with a gift to either The Coastal Conservation Association of North Carolina (ccanc.org) or The Boys and Girls Clubs of Wake County (wakebgc.org).
