James L. Cook Jr., 64, of Raleigh passed away on Saturday, December 8, 2012 in his home. Born in Durham on December 26, 1947, he was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. James L. Cook Sr. Jimmy was a professional salesman his entire career, he worked at JC Penney’s, Al Smith and retired from Ray Price Harley Davidson. He was a communicant of St. Raphael Catholic Church in Raleigh, an avid Duke Blue Devil fan since birth, and enjoyed golfing, fishing and playing poker with his family and friends. Jimmy received his special blessing seven months ago with the birth of his grandson Corbin James.
Surviving are: his loving wife of 33 years, Gretchen B. Cook of Raleigh; two daughters, Kellie Cook, Kathryn Cook and fiancée, Fulton Crowley, all of Raleigh; three brothers, Tommy and Carolyn Cook of Morehead City, Kenneth Cook of Cary, Barry and Mary Cook of Gibsonville; his grandson and “little buddy” Corbin James Crowley; two uncles, Tom and Diane Maness and, Donald Maness of Star; and many loving nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Tuesday at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 E. Millbrook Rd., Raleigh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM Wednesday at St. Raphael Catholic Church, 5801 Falls of Neuse Rd., Raleigh. Burial will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park.
