Jimmy was born on June 3, 1939, in Raleigh, NC to his late parents, Eva Katie Crumpler and James Odus (J.O.) Bullock. He grew up in Raleigh, attending Broughton High School. Jimmy served in the Air Force, installing radar equipment throughout the world, including being called to duty in Key West during the Cuban Missile Crisis. After being honorably discharged from the Air Force, he worked for BellSouth, Kmart, Marsh Kitchen Cabinets and Walmart. Jimmy had an entrepreneurial spirit, owning many small businesses throughout his life. He and his wife, Angie, had a love for animals and enjoyed attending and showing their prize-winning cats throughout the country. During his last years of life, Jimmy enjoyed his meals at Big Ed’s North, spending time with his sister and extended family, and calling family and friends each day to bring a little joy into their lives.
Jimmy is survived by his dear sister, Jean Kay Bullock Livesay; sons Scott (Ann) and Roger (Connie Thornton) Bullock, and their mother Peggy R. Wright; stepson Troy (Laura) Wright; and former daughter-in-law, Lynn Bullock Cieri; grandchildren Autumn (Bernie Hughes) Collier and Kristopher (Megan) Bullock, and their mother, Judy Deighton; Garrett Bullock and Elyse (Chadwick) Bullock O’Connell; Amber (Ian) Wright Russell and Louis (Lauren) Wright; and Rutger Bullock and Briegette (Ricardo) Bullock Benitez and their mother, Lisa Bullock; great grandchildren Brixton; Joey, Brantley, Bryson; Lawson, Kristian, Kaiden, Peyton, and Quinn. He is also survived by his niece and great nephew, Susan and Hunter Joyner, along with other family members and close friends.
In addition to his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Angelina (Angie) Bullock; his son, Todd Bullock; and grandchild, Shanna Bullock.
Jimmy’s sons and grandchildren want to specifically thank Jean Kay and Susan for the loving care they showed toward Jimmy during his final weeks.
A visitation for James will be held Thursday, July 21, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM at Mausoleum Chapel at Raleigh Memorial Park, 7501 Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh, NC 27612.
