James Jim Lee Blake

James Lee Blake, 81, a native and life - long resident of Raleigh died Saturday, Nov. 30th at his home, with his family by his side. Jim was the son of the late James Phillip Blake and Ruby Neville Blake.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 56 years, Wilma Gulley Blake of the home; his daughter, Jana Blake Pearce Galvan and her husband, Phillip of Raleigh; his two grandchildren, Alexandra and Blake Pearce; and two nephews, Mark and Scott Blake of Raleigh.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his beloved grandmother, Moshie M. Neville; and his brother, Phil Blake.

Jim attended Wiley School and graduated from Needham B. Broughton High School in 1950. He attended and graduated from Campbell College, where he played and co-captained both the school baseball and basketball teams. During the Korean War he served in the U.S. Army as a Military Police Officer, while stationed in Panama. Being a talented athlete himself, Jim was a life-long sports fan and an avid N.C. State fan. He was retired from Davidson & Jones in commercial property management, after many years of service.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at 2pm in the chapel of Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 300 Saint Mary’s St., in Raleigh. The family will receive friends Tuesday prior to the service at Brown-Wynne from 12:30-2:00 pm. Burial will follow the service at Montlawn Memorial Park.
