Affectionately known as “Pete” by her family and friends, Jean was born on June 19, 1935 and was the third of four children of the late Charles and Lucille Boyd in Winder, Georgia. Jean attended Young Harris College in Georgia, then married and moved to Raleigh in 1967. She moved to Historic Oakwood in 1992 and quickly made lifelong friends.
Jean loved entertaining and most of all, gathering her children, grandchildren and neighbors for any occasion and she definitely held to her mantra “What happens on the porch, Stays on the porch.”
Jean is survived by her brother, Charles Boyd, and sisters, JoAnne Grizzle and Betty Perry. She is also survived by her children, Amy Poss, Scott Harris and Gordon Harris along with her wonderful grandchildren, Amelia Poss and Alex Harris.
A memorial service are being planned for Atlanta, GA and a celebration of her life in Raleigh, with plans to announced at later date.
