Henry Eide 96 ¾, of Raleigh, NC, died peacefully in his sleep on October 5. He is survived by his children Craig Eide and wife Toni of White Lake Michigan, daughter Pam Eide-Rowland and husband Steve of Raleigh, NC, son Mark Eide and grandson Erik of Mebane NC, and daughter Cindi Eide of Raleigh, NC.
Henry was born on October 31, 1924 in Belmond, Iowa and served in the U.S. Army 1944 to 1945 in the 89th Infantry Division, landing in France in December of 1944. His unit was part of General Patton’s drive to Berlin. With the help of the G.I. Bill, he attended Iowa State University and earned a Bachelor Degree in Industrial Engineering. He found a job in San Diego California with Convair Astronautics and worked on the Atlas Missile, Mercury, and Gemini space programs. He transferred to Groton Connecticut to work on the Nuclear Submarine program then moved to Detroit Michigan to work in the automobile industry. He moved to Raleigh NC in 1981 to work in fluid robotics until he retired in 1991.
After moving to California to begin his career, he called his sweetheart to join him in Yuma, Arizona where they were married by the Justice of Peace. Together they enjoyed 46 years of marriage.
Henry was active in the community, working with children, doing volunteer work, and starting a chapter of the National Management Association in Ohio.
He enjoyed spending time traveling with his family, camping, golfing, playing pool, bowling, and traveling the globe with his family. He was an avid bridge player.
Henry was preceded in death by his wife Racheal, parents, and four siblings.
