Harold Emery Vincent, Sr., 91, passed away peacefully on January 9th, 2011 in Cary, NC, surrounded by family. He was born on November 21, 1919 in Burlington, Vermont to Leo Albert and Margaret Vincent (nee Forant).
Hal served in the US Army during WWII. He was a truck driver, a construction worker and a handyman who could fix almost anything. Hal often reminisced about fishing at Lake Champlain and the Winooski River. All of his life he was an animal lover, especially horses and dogs. He will always be remembered as a rabble-rouser, but above all he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and great-great grandfather.
He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Joan Vincent, of Cary, NC; his children- Roberta MacDonald and her husband Ronald of Ocala, Fl, Betty Sasina and her husband Jerry, of Ocala, FL, Linda Baker and her husband Jack, of Colchester, VT, Leo Albert “Bucky” Vincent of Ocala, FL, John Vincent and his wife Charlotte, of Baird, TX, Marcia Holliday and her husband Greg, of Escondido, CA, and Harold Jr. “Chip” Vincent and his wife Rhonda, of Raleigh, NC.
He will also be deeply missed by his 28 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and 15 great-great grandchildren. Hal was predeceased by his parents, his son Richard “Dickie” Vincent, two brothers and three sisters.
Memorial donations can be made to the Hospice of Wake County, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC, in memory of Hal.
