Penny was born to the late Arnold Blackman, Sr. and Helen Johnson on March 30, 1951 in Bronx, NY. Penny graduated from Evander Childs High School. She married Kenneth Dixon, Jr. in 1980; they lived together in NY before moving to Raleigh, NC in 1990.
Penny made an impact on so many people through her positions at the NC Juvenile Court System, Word of God Christian Academy, Preeminent Charter School and finally Maureen Joy Charter School. Not only was Penny a dedicated worker she also volunteered effortlessly to organize and handle various activities including socials, luncheons, and various fundraisers.
Penny was a kind, amazing, generous loving woman that dedicated her life to helping other people, and making the people whose life she touched better.
Penny is survived by her husband, Kenneth Dixon, Jr.; daughters, Sandra Fields Blow of Raleigh, NC and Nicole Gall and husband John of Raleigh, NC; grandchildren, Kristin Blow of Winston-Salem, NC, Felicia Blow of Asheville, NC and Kenneth Gall of Raleigh, NC; great grandson, Brayden Henry of Winston-Salem, NC; brother, Arnold Blackman, Jr.; two sisters, numerous nieces and nephews, and other loving family members and friends that will miss her tremendously.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. on Friday, August 23, 2013 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 E. Millbrook Rd., Raleigh, NC. Funeral services will follow immediately at 1:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Brown-Wynne.
