George Stanton "Stan" Taylor, died unexpectedly on October 2nd 2016, in Raleigh, NC at the age of 87. He is survived by two sisters, Mary Alice Taylor Laws of Kinston, NC, and Jane Taylor Turner of Sugarland, Texas. His nephews: Dr. D. Harper Taylor and spouse Peggy Cox Taylor of Greenville, NC, Stuart Taylor Laws of Kinston, NC, Douglas James Turner and spouse Nancy of Stafford, Texas, Randy Taylor Turner of Raleigh, NC. His nieces: Kay Taylor Harrell and spouse Dr. Jack Harrell, Laura Taylor Pressly and spouse Thomas S. Pressly. As well as his extended family and friends and beloved Pet, "Tootsie" Taylor. He is preceded in death by his parents: George Stanton Taylor and Tillie Marshburn Taylor of Kinston, NC, Brother D.H. Taylor Sr. and spouse Alice Kennedy Taylor, Nephew Robert Laws Jr.
Stan was born in Kinston, NC on November 30, 1929. He graduated from Grainger High School in 1948, joined the US Army, and was a Sergeant in the 30th infantry in Fort Benning Georgia. He began his life career in the insurance business with Combined Insurance Co. which led him to starting The Stan Taylor Insurance Agency in 1975 in Raleigh where he worked until retirement with a competent and loyal staff. He was the 55thmember of Richard Caswell Lodge No. 705 charter member of NRCC. He had a tender spot for animals and the less fortunate. He will be remembered by his family and friends for his zest for life.
The funeral service with visitation following will be October 10th at 11:00 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home 1701 E. Millbrook Rd. There will be a private interment in Kinston, NC following the visitation.
In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Lenoir Co. SPCA, Box 1481 Kinston, NC 28503 and Parkinson's Disease Foundation, 1359 Broadway #1509 NY, NY 10018. The family of Stan wishes to extend our sincere thanks to his doctors and caregivers.
