Lacy was a man of strong faith who loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was a member of Capital Community Church where he also served faithfully as a deacon. He was a talented Mechanical Engineer with a heart for serving others, who never turned down an opportunity to help someone in need. Lacy loved to do woodworking, and could fix anything he set his mind to. He enjoyed spending time on his motorcycle, and most recently found a love for sailing. Above all else, he enjoyed spending time with his family, who were very important to him. He took great pride in all of his children and grandchildren. They remember him as a fun-loving person, who was always smiling and never met a stranger. He wanted his funeral to be a celebration, so everyone could know that he is now in his heavenly home.
He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Bonnie Summers; three sons, Brian Summers (Lauren), Brent Summers (Caryn), and Daniel Summers; grandchildren, Audrey, Emily, Anna Claire, Jacob and Daniel; siblings, Carole Summers, Connie Dickerson (Kenny), and Sam Summers; and a large extended family.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 18, from 6:00 – 8:00pm, at Mitchell Funeral Home, 7209 Glenwood Ave, Raleigh, NC. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, March 19, at Providence Baptist Church, 6339 Glenwood Ave, Raleigh, NC. Burial will follow the service at Raleigh Memorial Park.
