Geneva J. Combs, 93, of Wilmington, formerly of Raleigh, died on January 31, 2019. Geneva, lovingly referred to as “Gigi” was a good church going Christian. She loved her family greatly, and enjoyed spending as much time with them as she could. Her favorite time of year was Christmas so she could have her whole family together. She loved going to the beach, entertaining guests, cooking and being around family and friends. For many years, she owned Atkins Restaurant with her husband on South Sanders Street in Raleigh. Gigi also never met a stranger. She was always willing to help people out, and would give you the shirt off her back.
Gigi is survived by her son, George King (Sharon); grandson she raised as a son, Alston Parrish; and a host of grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard P. Combs; Children, Florence Talbert, Ann Alford Coley, Martha Payton Strickland and Everette Elmus King, Jr.
A service will be held on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at 2:00pm at Raleigh Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel, 7501 Glenwood Avenue in Raleigh.
