Our dearest sister, mother, wife, daughter and friend lost her battle to Parkinson’s and died peacefully in her sleep on March 25, 2020.
Born in Hartford, Ct, Gara grew up in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, moved to Washington,D.C and later settled with her beloved husband, Peter Coppola in Cary, North Carolina. Gara was both highly intelligent and inventive. She had a free spirit that lead her to live a fearless life full of adventure. When she set her mind on something she would see it to the end even if she had to do it with her own hands and many times she did just that. She was so talented! She was also an entrepreneur with a successful Real estate career. Gara’s love of the outdoors was never more apparent than in her own beautiful garden. It was as magnificent as she was. We all mourn the loss of our family historian. She delighted in surprising us with photo books that she painstakingly put together as cherished gifts. Gara is survived by her loving husband, Peter, her daughter’s, Laura Roberts, Dawn Treanor, Meg Epley, Step-children Alex Coppola and Amy Piner, her grandchildren, Brian Weaver, Carrie Helms, Georgette Chase, Brandon Weaver, Justin Lubas, Michelle Barrett, Bridet Saraceni, Michael Barrett, Benjamin Coppola, Jacob Coppola, great grandchildren Aundrea, Austin, Brianna, Emily, Daniel, Madison, Bella, Kira, Amiyah, Dakota, Cody, Mason, Lawton, Wyatt, Brodrek, Landon, Aniston and a great grandchild, Avery, sisters Sue Dorman, Gina Finsilver and her loving Step-father Bob Bishop.
We will miss her smile, her love of family and wonderful sense of humor. We will miss Gara every minute of every day until we are together again.
May she Rest in Peace.
