Gail Campbell Blalock, 73, of Raleigh, peacefully passed away on September 27, 2012, at her home surrounded by her family, after a courageous battle with colon cancer. Gail was born November 20, 1938 in Bullock, NC, beloved daughter to the late Arthur Lee and LeMoyne Edwards Campbell.
Gail was married on March 16, 1956 in Ayer, MA at Fort Devens, to Thomas L. Blalock, just before his deployment to Germany. In 1968, she and Tom started Blalock Paving Company. She was a longtime member of Hayes Barton United Methodist Church. Gail had a passion for antique shopping; enjoyed travelling throughout the world with her husband; and above all things she loved her family and spending time with them. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
She is lovingly remembered by her husband of 56 years, Thomas L. Blalock; sons, Lyon Blalock (Casey), Lee Blalock (Angela), and William Blalock; her sisters, Rhonda Correll (Roy), of Cary, Betty Sue Dickerson (Barry), of Durham, and her sister-in-law, Barbara Campbell, of Oxford. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Matthew, Adam, Noah (fiancée Laura Beth), Anna (Chris), Lindsey, Joseph (Ellen), Mariane (Andrew), Christopher (Amy), and Alex; her 4 great-grandchildren, Lilly, Madilyn, Clark, Kale and soon to be expected, Wilson. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and lifelong friends.
In addition to her parents, Gail was preceded in death by her brother, Donald Campbell, of Oxford and sister, Linda Temple of Durham.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, September 29, at Hayes Barton United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends and family at the church from 12:30-2:00 pm prior to the service. Interment will follow at Raleigh Memorial Park.
