Frank was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, having served as an officer in the Mediterranean during the Korean War. He has been a devoted parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church for the past 25 years where he served as an usher. He was also involved in the Stephen and Eucharistic Ministries.
Frank was a lifelong vocal Steelers fan, and loved watching the games with his grandchildren, making sure they turned into avid fans. In the past, he enjoyed coaching little league teams. He liked cooking, had a love for cars, and enjoyed learning new technology. He was a hardworking and very sharp man who was extremely proud of his children.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Margaret Mary Stitt; children, Richard Stitt, and wife, Beth, Suzanne Stitt, Greg Stitt, and wife, Elizabeth, Blair Stitt, Maggie Hanlon, and Kate Pirrung, and husband, David; son-in-law Rich Spangenberg; eighteen grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 27, 2014 from 9:00am – 10:00am, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 11401 Leesville Road, Raleigh, NC. A funeral mass will begin at 10:00am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Caring Community Foundation, P.O.Box 1364, Cary, NC 27512.
