Evelyn T. Elsroad, 95, of Raleigh died Sunday. Evelyn is survived by her son, Robert Elsroad of Prescott, AZ; and a daughter, Nancee Gibson of Raleigh. She was raised in Charlottesville, VA, where she met her late husband, Robert Edsonson Elsroad. They were married in 1939, and lived in Baltimore, MD. during WWII. They later moved to Harrisonburg, VA. to live and raise their family until retiring to Raleigh, NC.
Evelyn was known as one of the first women to become a Registered Representative for the New York Stock Exchange and worked for Branch Cable and Company. She was known to the end as strong and opinionated, loving and loved, at ease with her life, and happy to know her friends.
A memorial service is being held at St. Timothy's Episcopal Church in Raleigh, NC on May 24, at 11:00. Interment will occur at Monticello Memorial Gardens, in Charlottesville, VA at a later date.
