He graduated from Red Oak High School in Nash County but when WWII began he and his buddies left school to help our country in time of War. After the war was over they came back to Red Oak and graduated. He attended a business college in Raleigh. He was a WWII veteran and worked for USPS for 36 years. He retired with 40 years from US Navy Reserve.
A member of Emmanuel Baptist Church where he cherished his Sunday school class. He was also a Boy Scout Leader and coached Little League Baseball and taught his sons how to throw a curveball. He loved to garden, sharing his fruits and vegetables to friends, neighbors, and church members. He was especially fond of his fig trees and especially his special fig preserve recipe he was able to share with folks during his stay at Wake Med.
He is predeceased by his wife, Edith Benson King, and his youngest son, Carlton.
Surviving to cherish his memory is his son, Samuel E. King and wife Janice of Raleigh; his grandson, Brian Chadwick King and wife Rebekah and their son Marshall of Garner. A brother, Jesse King of Nash County and a very special niece, Juanita Coley.

A visitation for Ermon will be held Tuesday, July 25, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM in the Mausoleum Chapel at Raleigh Memorial Park, 7501 Glenwood Ave, Raleigh, NC 27612. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 PM. Burial to follow.
