Elizabeth White Perry, 88, of Raleigh, died on Saturday, 5 August. Born in Miami, Florida, Elizabeth was the daughter of Frank Gregory White, Sr. and Agnes Crotty White. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Texas, where she was a member of the Alpha Phi sorority. Elizabeth was a portrait and landscape artist, and she especially loved sketching pastel portraits of children.
Over her lifetime, Elizabeth enjoyed many friendships through her service as a volunteer at a number of organizations, including Christ Church of Raleigh, the Historic Yates Mill County Park, the Joel Lane Museum House, the National Society of the Colonial Dames of America in the State of North Carolina, and the North Carolina Museum of Art. Elizabeth participated in events hosted by the English-Speaking Union, and loved traveling with her husband to England and Scotland. She was a member of the Carolina Country Club. Her charitable interests included Historic Williamsburg, the Raleigh Fine Arts Society, St. John’s School of Houston Texas, and the Wedgwood Society of New York. Elizabeth will be remembered for her love of family and friends, her enthusiasm for tennis, and her fondness for the wildlife in her yard.
Elizabeth is preceded in death by her husband, Jerome John Perry.
She is survived by her daughter Marianne Perry Wilkerson, her husband Charles William Wilkerson, Jr., and their son Neil William Wilkerson; son Jerome John Perry, Jr.; sister Marianne White Green; brother Frank Gregory White, Jr.; numerous nieces and nephews; and many loving friends.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Christ Church/Clark Grew Health for the Homeless Project, the Springmoor Life Care Retirement Community Endowment Fund, or the charity of one’s choice.
