Elizabeth “Eliza” Claire McLynn was born without a heartbeat on November 14, 2024, at 11:48 pm, in Raleigh. Eliza is the cherished daughter of Ryan and Jamie McLynn (Pettit) and the beloved baby sister of Margot. Her parents were able to spend some precious time with their beautiful girl before saying goodbye.
Eliza was named after her maternal grandmother, Mary Elizabeth Pettit (Kruzich). We hoped Eliza would have had the same sense of curiosity, whimsy, and hospitality as her Lolli. Her middle name, Claire, means “light” as news of her life brought our family so much light during a challenging time.
She was loved by all who joyfully anticipated her arrival. In particular, Margot was so excited to be a big sister, and we are heartbroken that these sisters won’t grow up together. We had many dreams for our second daughter; she will always be a part of our family.
Eliza is mourned by her grandparents Mary Beth and Jim Pettit (Lolli and Pop), grandparents Margy and Dennis McLynn (Gram and Boompa), aunts Meghan and Maura McLynn, and aunt Bridget Pettit. She is also remembered by her great-grandmother, many great-aunts and great-uncles, cousins, and friends.
If you would like to make a donation in Eliza’s memory, please consider the UNC Rex Women’s & Children’s Fund, which provided our nurses with supplies to create a memory box for us to bring home from the hospital. You may donate at unchf.org/givebackrex.
