Elizabeth Ann Lucas Rose

Elizabeth Lucas Rose was born in Hamlet, NC on August 2, 1931 to the late Joseph Richard and Julia Martin Lucas. She is survived by her husband John T. Rose of Raleigh; her sons, Lewis (Rocky) Powell III and wife Kim of Raleigh, and Richard Powell and wife, Dawna of Cocoa Beach, FL; her brothers, Joe Lucas and wife, Jeannette of Crofton, MD, Ashleigh Lucas and wife Margie of Cary and John Wesley Lucas and wife, Linda of Venice, FL; the delight of her life, granddaughter, Heather Powell of Raleigh; and many nieces and nephews.

She graduated from Hamlet High School in 1949 and as President of her Commercial Class at WCUNC in 1950. She worked with First Federal Savings and Loan for many years in Raleigh, and for a number of years she was in the real estate business at Sunset Beach & Oak Island. She was a member of Hayes Barton Methodist Church and the Cameron King Sunday School Class.

A memorial service will be held Friday, October 2nd at 3:00 pm at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 300 Saint Mary's Street with Reverend Rick Clayton presiding. Visitation will follow the service at Brown-Wynne.
