Edwin Loftin Kornegay, 91, passed away April 17, 2017 at Woodland Terrace. Ed was born in Mt. Olive, NC on March 15, 1926. He graduated from Mt. Olive High School in 1943 and UNC Chapel Hill in 1948 with a B.S. in Accounting. He served as a special agent in the Counter Intelligence Corp in the US Army. HIs career encompassed work with Haskins & Sell Public Accountants in NY and Ga., Walker Martin Inc. and Martin Marietta. Ed was an active member of White Memorial Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder, deacon, youth counselor, Sunday School teacher, and as a Stephen's minister. He was involved in the Raleigh Junior Chamber of Commerce, Raleigh Kiwanis Club, United Way of Wake County and Boy Scouts of America.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents, brother, sister and his wife, Betty Davis Kornegay of Eden, NC.
He is survived by two daughters and a son, Deborah Smith and husband John, Pamela Jenny and husband, Richard, and Michael Kornegay and wife Gina; 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
A service for the Witness to the Resurrection will be held Thursday, April 20, 2017 at 2:00 pm at White Memorial Presbyterian Church, 1704 Oberlin Road in Raleigh. His family will receive family and friends immediately following the service in the Jane Bell Gathering Space at the church.
