Ed went home to be with his Lord on Friday, October 26, 2012, after a difficult struggle to overcome cancer. He was born in San Antonio, TX to Edwin Ray Bridenbaugh and Nettie Mae Smith on July 23, 1934. His father was a career military officer so he lived in many areas of the US during his childhood. After completing his own military service, he graduated from Georgia Tech with an electrical engineering degree. During his work experience he was involved in testing for the Saturn rocket space program, engineering, product development and also received several patents in telephone and textile technology. He retired from his own business related to computer power supplies.
Ed was a strong Christian who loved his church, his family, and the extended family of friends he had made during his life. He was a person with many interests that included golf, boating, bowling, genealogy and creative projects.
He is survived by Brenda, his loving wife of 51 years; two sons: David N. Bridenbaugh and wife Conne, Robert E Bridenbaugh and wife Ivette as well as three grandchildren: Davis and Rebecca Bridenbaugh (David) and Christian Bridenbaugh (Robert). Also surviving are his brother Ray F. Bridenbaugh and wife Caroline, sister Wilma Bridenbaugh, brother-in-law James Eason and wife Carol, as well as nieces and nephews.
A service to celebrate his life will be held Saturday, November 3rd, at 2:00pm at North Raleigh United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ed’s name to North Raleigh United Methodist Church or Hospice of Wake County.
We would like to thank all of the staff of the Wake County Hospice for their help and support.
