It only takes a minute to find a special person, an hour to appreciate them, and a day to love them, but it takes an entire lifetime to forget them! Edward Blake Tolley will never be forgotten by anyone who knew him - family, friends, work associates, and his brothers of Sigma Phi Epsilon.
The beloved son of Rita Hobby Tolley and Edward Rudy Tolley passed away tragically November 29th, 2013. Born September 14, 1990 in Raleigh, NC, Blake grew up to be an outstanding young man through school and especially in First Presbyterian Church Raleigh where he was active in all child and youth programs. He had the heart of a servant as he participated in mission trips and was always available whenever help was needed.
A devoted ECU Pirate, Blake followed his Dad, uncles, and sister to become a student there where he was majoring in construction management, excelled academically, and was inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. Following an Internship last summer in Washington, DC with James G. Davis Construction Corporation, a top rated US company, Blake was invited to return this summer with plans for an international work experience.
Blake was an adventurous young man who enjoyed playing golf, and was an avid fan of the East Carolina Pirates and Carolina Hurricanes. Blake was well-known for preparing food and inviting friends and family; as well as making arrangements for activities and good times together.
A life full of promise, hope, and joy ended far too soon leaving to cherish his memory his mother, Rita Hobby Tolley, his father, Edward Rudy Tolley, his sister, Elizabeth Gray Tolley; his aunts and uncles David and Charlotte Hall, Charles and Brenda Tolley, Ken and Beth Stalls, Jerry and Joanie Tolley, and Marcie Tolley. He is also survived by his cousins Gary, Mike, Chan, Jay, Justin, Brian and Jason. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Clara Tolley Bunch and Gordon and Mabel Hobby.
A Memorial service in honor of Blake will be held on Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at 2:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church Raleigh, NC with a reception following the service for family and friends in the Gathering Space at the church.
