Edna was born on May 18, 1934 in Townsville, Vance County to the late Emmett and Lula Belle Moody. She was married to Clifton Lawrence Woodlief on October 29, 1955. They were married for 30 years.
Edna was a loving, caring person who could talk to people from any and all walks of life and become friends. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Raleigh, and an all-around enthusiastic presence to those she loved.
The simplest pleasures brought joy to Edna. She looked forward to completing her newspaper’s crossword puzzle daily. Reading was also a favorite activity for Edna and she would often read late into the night. Her all-time favorite book was “The Power of One”. Edna loved visiting the beach, especially North Myrtle Beach. Dining out with her friends for lunch or dinner was a weekly event. Her outgoing personality was contagious to everyone she met. You could always count on a good conversation with Edna.
Edna loved animals. She helped her husband Cliff with raising prize winning hunting birddogs. An unusual pet she once had was a flying squirrel.
Edna had a great sense of humor and expressed it in many ways but especially by sending funny greeting cards to family members and friends. You could count on getting a special, make you smile, or laugh, card from “Auntie Edna”. She had some favorite quotes including one of her favorites “You Can’t Fix Stupid”. “Auntie Edna” was special and unique; she will be missed
