She was born in Knightdale, NC on November 18, 1923 to Herbert Henry Keeler and Alma Vivian Keeler. On May 2, 1942, she married the love of her life, French Wayne Bordeaux, Jr. (Wayne).
In addition to Wayne, she is predeceased by her parents; brother, Herbert Waddell Keeler and infant brother, Walter Lee Keeler; son, Phillip Wayne Bordeaux; and infant grandson, Keith Koonce.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda Faye Bordeaux Koonce and son-in-law, Sidney Gale Koonce; grandsons, Brian Koonce, Barry Koonce (Tia), Blake Koonce (Annie), Derek Bordeaux (Claudia); granddaughters, Lori Maloney, Karen Bordeaux (Natalie Hunt); great-grandchildren, Zachary Maloney, Hannah Maloney, Hayley Shephard, Tyler Koonce and Jordan Koonce; plus numerous nieces and nephews.
Edna developed many lasting relationships through her past employment at Westinghouse, Hudson-Belk, State Capital Life and Durham Life. She retired as a bookkeeper from Durham Life in 1986. She enjoyed life to the fullest. She was an active member of Millbrook United Methodist Church, and a member of the Open Forum Sunday School. When she was able, she participated in the church food pantry projects and the like. Until her health decline, she played cards weekly with several of her church friends. Over the years she has held offices in and been actively involved with organizations such as the UTU (United Transportation Union) Auxiliary, and numerous women’s clubs. A lover of sports, she played basketball in high school, was an avid bowler for several years and from time to time played golf with Wayne. In more recent years, Edna had been resigned to watching many hours of golf, basketball, football and baseball on TV and if anyone had questions about current or past players for a number of teams, they could go to her for the answers. One of her great-grandsons, Tyler, recently stated it was fun talking sports on the telephone with her.
The family would like to thank the Well Care nursing staff, Duke Raleigh Hospital staff, the staff of Transitions Life Care and Brown-Wynne Funeral Home for taking care of her during her recent health decline and death.
In lieu of flowers monetary donations may be made in her honor to Millbrook United Methodist Church, 1712 E. Millbrook Rd, Raleigh, NC, 27609.
