She was born in LaPrairie Township near Janesville, WI on February 7, 1924. She was the daughter of Chester and Nellie Tess of Janesville, WI and graduated from Janesville High School in 1940, and then married Ervin (Bud) Hall on October 24, 1942. She was a devoted wife and wonderful mother. They had three children and later raised their granddaughter, Anna. Dorothy followed Bud on his business adventures, first to Janesville, WI, then to Cincinnati, OH, and Norwalk, OH and finally to High Point, NC. Later they formed their own textile consultant company where she was Secretary-treasurer of E.T. Hall Corporation.
Dorothy enjoyed music, ceramics, playing the organ, and cooking for her family. During family gatherings Bud and Dorothy danced the waltz and the polka. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in High Point, NC and a member of the Hilda Vaughn Bible Study Group. Dorothy volunteered with the Mental Health Association of High Point, and also volunteered as the assistant librarian at Archdale Elementary School in Archdale. She was a loving and kind woman.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Bud Hall (2008) and their daughter Linda Hall (2000). She was also preceded in death by her sister Marjorie Tess Inman (2002).
She is survived by her son, Steven Hall and his family of Des Moines, IA; daughter, Pam (Thomas) Woodruff and her family of Norwalk, OH; granddaughter Anna (Scott) Letchworth and her family of Raleigh, NC; 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 19th at 11 AM in the Chapel of Memories at the Floral Garden Park Cemetery in High Point, NC, with Rev. Morris Brown officiating. There will also be a Celebration of Life service at a later date in Norwalk, Ohio.
