Dear Carl,
I was terribly saddened reading about Diana's untimely passing. I have not been in touch for the past year because I spent most of the year in and out of the hospital.
Diana was such a wonderful friend and I do think of her often. Both of you were such a great help with the garden tour and I will always be very grateful. We are planning on dedicating the Fall Tour to her memory.
You are both in my thoughts and prayers.

It was a shock to see Diana's picture in the August 4 Newport Daily News.  My condolences and prayers go out to the family.

I did not know her well, but I recall how helpful and friendly she was in assisting Carl in his work on the Program Committee of the Newport Branch of the English Speaking Union when I was President.  I realized what a special lady she was in supporting a very special supporter of the ESU.

Although it has been too many years, Tink loves to remember the Army days and the good times Diana and Carl shared with him.  It was with sadness that we read of Diana's passing.  Know that you are all in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Carl, Anne, Dyson and Caroline -  We could not believe it when we saw Diana's face in the Newport Daily News today.  I had spoken with her only ten days ago.  Nothing seemed  amiss.  Caroline was helping her pack to move to the new smaller place.  We talked about Buster.  I have missed her;  and I always felt that she missed Newport.  I will miss her tremendously in the future.
