David Kindler Wecht, 90, loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on September 22, 2015. Dave was born on January 17, 1925, in Cuyahoga County, OH. He will be fondly remembered for his incredible sense of humor and kindness.
Dave received a Bronze Star for his service in the U.S. Army during World War II, primarily in Germany, where he served post-war as mayor of a small town. A brother of Sigma Chi Fraternity, he was a graduate of Ohio Wesleyan and the University of Michigan (MBA). He was an auxiliary police sergeant in Bay Village, OH. Dave was also a member of North Raleigh United Methodist Church and enjoyed singing with various barbershop choruses, especially the General Assembly Chorus.
He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 64 years, Phyllis Rickey Wecht; daughters Wendy Wecht Harding and Linda Wecht Tesh (Michael); grandchildren Melissa Harding Behne (Donny), John David Harding, Jennifer Anne Tesh Murphy (Brian), and Courtney Lynne Tesh; sister-in-law Arline Rickey Bliss; dearly loved nieces and nephews; and a beloved cousin, Janice Kindler Barden (Chuck), and her daughter, Sheryl Barden.
A Celebration of Life, with military honors, will be held on Saturday, September 26, at 2:00 PM at North Raleigh United Methodist Church, 8501 Honeycutt Road. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.brownwynne.com.
