He was born on August 31, 1939 in Flint, Michigan to the late Curtis Victor and Marion Sellers Thompson. After graduating high school in Flint, he completed training in broadcasting in Chicago and spent several years working in radio. However, the longest part of his career was in sales before retiring in 2012. He was also an honorably discharged veteran who completed an enlistment in the Army National Guard. He loved life and was loved and cherished by all who knew him. He enjoyed watching sports and discussing politics. He lived by Jimmy V’s urging to “never give up”, especially during the decline of his health in the past couple of years. He was indeed a loving and caring husband, father, and grandfather.
Left to cherish his memory is his devoted wife of 50 years, Lea Thompson; daughter, Lea Anne Thompson; son, David Allen Thompson and his wife Jennifer; brother James R. Thompson and his wife Diane; sister Beverly Jesmore; grandchildren Alexia, Preslie, Raegan, Walker, Ryley, Reece, and Renna; and several nephews and nieces.
Honoring his wishes, there will be no funeral service or public memorial. In addition, he had previously expressed that upon his passing, any memorials be directed to: Wounded Warrior Project (www.woundedwarriorproject.org)
