Dave was born in Sacramento, California, on January 6, 1958. In Dave’s early years, he lived with his big brother and parents in South Carolina, North Carolina, California, Massachusetts, and Germany, where his first sister was born; Oregon, where his second sister was born; and then his family settled in Georgia, where his younger brother was born. Dave graduated with honors from Jonesboro Senior High School in 1976. Dave then attended and graduated with honors from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science. After graduation he got married, and moved to Iowa where his daughter was born. Dave and his family then found their way to the Durham, North Carolina, where his son was born. After many years, Dave was able to build and live in his dream home in Bracey, Virginia.
Dave loved the Lord, his family, friends, pets, fishing, Georgia football, and Duke Basketball. His smile would light up the room, and his laughter was contagious. Dave enjoyed spending time with family, friends that became family, visiting local wineries and breweries, and traveling.
He is survived his two children, Peter and Erin; his sisters, Lynn and Debara; nephews, Kevin and Brian; nieces, Monica and Jillian; three great nephews, three great nieces; uncle and aunt; two cousins, and so many wonderful friends.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents, James and Joyce Montgomery; his brothers, James, Jr., and Michael.
A Funeral service was held on Saturday, November 18, 2023 in the CHapel of Mitchell Funeral Home, 7209 Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh.
