Daniel Stephen Garriss

He was born December 12th, 1939, to the late Thurman W. and Elizabeth L. Garriss of Watha, NC.

He earned his Bachelor of Science and Master of Engineering degrees from North Carolina State University.

He worked as an Electrical Engineer at IBM in Research Triangle Park, where he retired in 1994. After retiring, he pursued his lifelong interest in designing and building metal detectors.

He was one of the founding members of North Haven PFWB Church in Raleigh, NC, where he served as a deacon/elder, Sunday School teacher and anywhere else he could serve the Lord. He served as Trustee of Heritage Bible College and on the PFWB Executive Board. He enjoyed ministering to Liberty Commons Nursing Home in Benson, NC.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Frances Wood Garriss, three children: Michael S. Garriss and wife, Kim of Watha, NC, Pamela G. Earhart and husband Joe of Raleigh, NC and Janet G. Cain and husband Marshall of Lillington, NC. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Blake, Mason, Logan, Sarah, Elizabeth and Kaden and 1 great-grandson, Liam. Stephen will also be missed by his brothers, Thurman Garriss and Raymond Garriss and by his sister, Sue Stinson.

A viewing will be held at 1:00pm Monday April 21st at North Haven Church, 6620 Six Forks Road, Raleigh, NC, followed by the funeral at 2:00pm. The burial will be at Stoney Run Church Cemetery in Dunn, NC.
