Cary, NC: Cynthia Spence “Cindy” Wall, age 72, passed away on Monday, July 3, 2023 at Waltonwood Cary Parkway, a Senior Living Community. Born on October 1, 1950 in Raleigh, NC; she was the daughter of the late Victor Boyd Spence and Elizabeth Graves Spence; she was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Robert Lee “Sonny” Wall.
Cindy was active in many groups and organizations at Enloe High School. She enjoyed her Distributive Education classes and hoped to become a DE teacher after college. After one year of attending East Carolina University, she married Sonny and became a loving mother to Robyn.
Her smile was infectious. Her love of corresponding through cards and letters is legendary. For 20 years, she worked at North Hills Inc., where she shared many unforgettable memories with her group of girlfriends there. When Sonny’s job took them to Wilmington in 1993, she began working as a part-time cashier at New Hanover Medical Group where she made lifelong friends and received topnotch care from her Internist, Dr. Herring. Tailgating and cheering for the Wolfpack brought her back to Raleigh often, which thrilled her. Helping to plan the Enloe Classes of 1967 and 1968 reunions filled her heart. The last 16 months she spent at Waltonwood in Cary were fulfilling ones. She made dear friends and participated in countless exercise classes. Her positive attitude and fierce determination enabled her to manage multiple serious health issues. She tuned in weekly to virtual Sunday services at Port City Community Church in Wilmington. Her faith was extremely important to her.
She is survived by her daughter: Robyn Wall Ormond and husband Grady Ormond, of Cary: grandchildren: Abigail Ormond, Ia Ormond and Tabitha Ormond, all of Cary; sister: Vicki Spence Painter, of Apex; and nieces and nephews: Matt Wall, Julia Wall, Sarah Wall, Jennifer Stikeleather, Bridgette Barham, Jason Pope and Brooke Walters.
