I'm just finding this out today! How did he pass away? Neil and I were good friends when I was living in Raleigh years ago, we would go out often and play golf just about every weekend. You crossed my mind today, like you do so much. I just wanted to thank you again for being such an amazing friend to both myself and my daughter. You really touched our lives. I have such fond memories of you, that I will forever carry in my heart. 

I am so sorry to learn of Neil's death in 2016.  I have been trying trace our Sexton relations in the US for some time and it is now so sad to know that it will now never be possible to meet with Neil. Many years ago (in 1984), I visited Neil's grandfather, Michael, in Bergenfield NJ and my father (also Cornelius) continued to have contact with some members of the family until quite recently. Perhaps Neil's father and mother are still alive and, if so, I would love to hear from them or other family members. In the meantime, please accept our sincere condolences on Neil's death at such a young age.

I just discovered this while trying to track down Neil. We worked together at Enterprise in the early 90's. What a great guy. We stayed in touch over the years, but I have not received a return call in years, I understand now. So sorry for your loss. Great friend. Wish you well.

I only met Neil  by phone and he was a caring individual June K

I'll never forget Neil chasing me throughout the yards in the neighborhood when we were just kids, growing up in Berkeley Heights. Then in our early 20s Neil lived across the street from me in Huntington Bch, CA. What are the chances. My heart goes out to his parents, sisters and the rest of his family and friends. Prayers and thoughts are with you during this very sad and difficult time.

My heart is sadden after hearing the news today. Thoughts and prayers for the Sexton family. Neil was my account executive at Cherrywood but more than that, he was a dear friend. Peace of God be with the family and all of us who called Neil friend.

I first met Neil in the late 90's when Rochelle and I moved to Raleigh.  John and Sandy Rhoades were our neighbors, and they were kind enough to introduce us to their great circle of Elon friends.  Of course Neil was at the center of it all.  From the day I met Neil I always liked him.  His daring move to St. Thomas was, well, awesome.  The guy knew how to enjoy life.  His infectious smile and gregarious personality lit the room.  I happened to be a TKE from Radford so Neil and I always joked around with the "secret handshake" and other old fraternity stuff.  On and off for the last decade plus I've enjoyed seeing Neil at the periodic gatherings.  He was the uncle to all the kids and was loved by all.  One day I'll see you on the other side my friend. Neil was such a great guy. My wife Brenda and I got to know Neil at the apartment complex that my sister and brother-in-law moved into over a year ago. He lived just down the hall from them and my brother in law would always call him "Number 12" because he lived in the apartment that ended in "12". Neil was so friendly---just like we knew him all our lives. He would make bread and cakes and take them to my sister and brother in law. He talked at length with my son (the first time he met him) about the loan process my son wanted to engage in in order to build a house. Very helpful! Just a nice person! Glad we got to know him. Our prayers are with the family. May God comfort you in this time of sorrow.

Neil, your infectious smile will be missed by all!!!

Neil, I am so lucky to have had you as my friend for all of these years. Whenever I hear a song from the 70's, I will think of you and smile. I think I can speak for all of your friends from Berkeley Heights when I say we love you and miss you terribly. Prayers to your family and all who love you.

How heartbreaking for anyone who knew Neil. Truly tragic for his family - he loved you all so much. You are all in my prayers. Thank you Neil for touching my life and for making me laugh. You were one of the good guys. Have a wonderful time on your newest adventure.

I offer my condolences to Neil's family and loved ones. I worked with Neil for a few years. I don't think I ever saw him frown, and I recall it being very difficult for anyone else to frown with him around.  He was one of the friendliest people I ever met.  Every room he was in was a little more alive for him being in it.  We're all better people for having known him.  He is loved and missed.

Met Neil at the apartment and knew him for a short period of time and enjoyed his company. His smile lit up the room and he always had a great outlook on life. His smile was contagious and he will be greatly missed.

Neil, I enjoyed working with you the past few years. You will be missed.

I just want to pick-up the phone and hear your voice complaining about something I did wrong, lol. I only knew you for a few years but I will miss our phone conversations and debates about your deals. I hope and pray that your family can find peace now and that they know your co-workers think very highly of you. I miss you buddy. See you on the other side.

To the Sexton family, I am very sorry for your loss.  I will very much miss Neil as I enjoyed working with him the last few years.  He was smart and always had a good sense of humor.  We had many laughs even during the day-to-day grind of doing deals.

This is so completely sad! You were such a wonderful friend and person and light in the room. You will be missed.

Neily- I'm forever blessed by God placing you in my life 17 years ago. I could have never imagined you would have become my best friend, room mate, confidant, real estate business partner, and counselor in life! Your passing has left a huge hole in my heart, but I'm so grateful for our time together and all the sweet memories. Of all the things I've learned, staying positive and sarcastic ;) are most important! I miss you immeasurably. God be with you!

Although I did not know you personally, your sister Karen was my freshman roommate in college and thus I am very sad to learn of your passing. If you had any of your sisters traits and personality you will be missed by many. She remains some 30 years later a friend I can only aspire to be like and love. No words can express how much Neil will be missed, he was truly one of a kind. He made everyone feel special, never forgetting a birthday and randomly sending a text that would just say 'what's up?!'  I feel very lucky to have had Neil as a friend and will miss him greatly. Neil, this is such a shock and something that is hard for all to believe. Just doesn't make sense. You are the life of the party...we will have to keep the joy rolling in your honor but honestly, it is going to be hard but hearing your voice and picturing your face cracking jokes and sharing funny stories...that does bring a smile to my face. You are still sending cheer from the other side and are severely missed already. I feel I took for granted that you were there and that we would one day put the Kozoid band back together. Whenever I picture that special time we shared with an incredible crew, you are the first person I picture in our little shared office before the "big" move. We were destined to be buds with the Jersey connection in NC and shared friend, Tara King. It instantly felt like you were an old time friend from North Jersey...driving around that area over Thanksgiving, I kept thinking that these are the same roads you know. Being back in NC, I keep thinking these are your roads too and that...you should still be here, man. Hard to get used to this new way of reaching you...you are never forgotten.

The saying "never knew a stranger" was coined for Neil.  He was one of the most genuinely friendly and outgoing individuals I have ever met. My condolences for his parents, sisters, and family.  We are all missing a truly good friend.
